Blue Phosphorescence of Standard Cut Flower Carnation
نویسندگان
چکیده
An experiment was conducted to quantify luminescence of white cut flower carnations after exposure blue glow-in-the-dark powder. Powder applied the flowers as either dip (3, 6, or 9 g) spray solutions in 240 mL water for 4 seconds plus a control. Stem fresh weight, relative stem diameter, and overall solution absorption were greatest on day 4. Only 6-g had greater average quality ratings than control, indicating reduced vase life, but there no difference among powder treatments. Phosphorescence is possible with fluorescent light, ultraviolet light increased mean brightness an 75% across all No treatment differences observed except 9; however, rates without general resulted brightness.

Effect of Nitric Oxide on Postharvest Quality and Vase Life of Cut Carnation Flower
Nitric oxide (NO) is a highly reactive signaling molecule and plays a variety of physiological roles in plants. The research on the application of NO to postharvest preservation of flowers and fruits shows great promise in recent years. However, the physiological mechanism of exogenous NO to affect cut flowers is not very clear, and NO donor treatment protected plants from damage by increasing ...
متن کاملStress-induced Ethylene Production in Flower Parts of Cut Carnation Flowers Cv. Light Pink Tasman
Ethylene is a plant hormone with endogenous production associated with the process of senescence for a number of cut flowers. Different stressogenic factors, including signals such as pollination, exogenous ethylene and auxins have been found to be associated with the increase in ethylene emission and a specific tissue response has been documented. The present study was undertaken with the aim ...
متن کاملRole of cytokinins in carnation flower senescence.
Stem and leaf tissues of carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) plants appear to contain a natural antisenescence factor since removal of most of these tissues from cut carnation flowers hastened their senescence. However, kinetin (5-10 mug/ml) significantly delayed senescence of flowers with stem and leaf tissues removed. In addition, the life span of cut flowers with intact (30-cm) stems was incre...

متن کاملCrystal structure of the petal death protein from carnation flower.
Expression of the PSR132 protein from Dianthus caryophyllus (carnation, clover pink) is induced in response to ethylene production associated with petal senescence, and thus the protein is named petal death protein (PDP). Recent work has established that despite the annotation of PDP in sequence databases as carboxyphosphoenolpyruvate mutase, the enzyme is actually a C-C bond cleaving lyase exh...
